This is a sticky one. Japan did some truly awful things to Korea, and Korea has every right to an apology. And it rankles me that Japan doesn’t think it should give one, and makes light of the affair in its history books. But then again…this was many moons ago. Perhaps it’s time to let go, move on, and build constructive relationships. East Asia is stronger economically when there’s fewer of these diplomatic dust-ups, and that’s good for the whole world, not just the nations directly involved.
